SAMPLE ITINERY

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali, Rwanda

Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport (KGL), you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your accommodation in Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time to explore Kigali, a city known for its cleanliness, vibrant culture, and historical significance. Kigali City Tour (optional) If time permits, enjoy a city tour of Kigali. Visit sites such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, which provides a poignant insight into Rwanda’s history, and explore local markets for possible local shopping experience and eateries to get a taste of Rwandan culture. Accommodation Spend the night at a comfortable hotel in Kigali, preparing for your upcoming primate adventure in Volcanoes National Park.

Day 2: Golden Monkey Tracking and Transfer to Uganda

Golden Monkey Tracking in Volcanoes National Park After an early breakfast, drive to Volcanoes National Park for golden monkey tracking. Golden monkeys are unique to the Rwandan and Ugandan border regions, and tracking them provides a fascinating experience. The trek through the forest is less strenuous than gorilla trekking, but still offers the chance to observe these endangered primates in their natural habitat. Transfer to Uganda Following the golden monkey trek, enjoy your lunch at the hotel before embarking on a transfer to Uganda. The drive to your next accommodation via Cyanika border takes approximately 2-3 hours, depending on border formalities. After crossing into Uganda, you will continue to your accommodation near Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Accomodation Check into your lodge or camp near Bwindi or Mgahinga, where you can relax and prepare for the upcoming gorilla trekking experience.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Uganda

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi or Mgahinga After breakfast, set out for your gorilla trekking adventure. Uganda offers a more affordable gorilla permit price at a current rate US $800, making it a cost-effective choice for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. The trek through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park provides an opportunity to encounter one of the world’s most endangered species, the mountain gorilla. ​ Lunch and Return After your gorilla trek, return to your accommodation for a well-deserved lunch. Spend the rest of the day reflecting on your extraordinary encounter with the gorillas. ​ Evening Relaxation Enjoy dinner and relax at your lodge or camp. This is a great time to unwind and share stories from your trek with fellow travellers.

Day 4: Return to Kigali and Fly to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

Transfer to Kigali After breakfast, transfer back to Kigali. The journey back provides a final opportunity to enjoy Rwanda’s scenic beauty and reflect on your experiences. Upon arrival in Kigali, you may have some free time to explore or relax before your flight. Fly to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania In the afternoon or early evening, head to Kigali International Airport for your flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in Tanzania. The flight typically takes around 1.5 hours. Upon arrival in Kilimanjaro, you’ll be greeted by your Tanzanian guide and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha or Moshi. Accommodation Spend the night in Arusha or Moshi, preparing for the next leg of your safari adventure.

Day 5: Transfer to Tarangire National Park

Journey to Tarangire National Park After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds and impressive baobab trees. The drive from Arusha to Tarangire takes approximately 2 hours. ​ Afternoon Game Drive Arrive in Tarangire and embark on an afternoon game drive. The park’s varied landscapes, including riverine forests and swamps, provide excellent opportunities for wildlife sightings, including elephants, lions, and a variety of bird species. Accommodation Choose from a range of accommodation options in Tarangire, from luxurious lodges to comfortable tented camps. Enjoy dinner and unwind after your game drive.

Day 6: 🇺🇬. Queen Elizabeth National Park – Uganda (3 Days / 2 Nights)
1 – Arrival & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth
Drive from Kampala or Entebbe (approx. 6–7 hours) with scenic stopovers at the Equator. Afternoon arrival and check-in at lodge. Evening game drive in the savannah plains for elephants, antelopes, buffaloes, and warthogs. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge / Simba Safari Camp / Similar.
Day 2 – Game Drive & Boat Safari on Kazinga Channel
Early morning game drive through Kasenyi Plains for lions, leopards, and kob. Afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, linking Lake Edward and Lake George — famous for hippos, buffaloes, and countless birds. Visit Lake Katwe salt mining crater for cultural interaction. Optional stop at the crater lakes area — scenic volcanic craters offering panoramic views and short nature walks.
Day 3 – Morning Game Drive & Return
Breakfast and short drive around the northern crater zone. Drive back to Kampala or connect to Bwindi / Kidepo.

Day 7: Kidepo Valley National Park – Uganda (4 Days / 3 Nights)

Day 1 – Travel to Kidepo Early departure from Kampala or Gulu; long scenic drive (approx. 10–12 hours). Stop at Karuma Falls en route. Overnight at Kidepo Savannah Lodge or Apoka Safari Lodge.

2 – Game Drive in Narus Valley
Early morning game drive for cheetahs, lions, elephants, zebras, and giraffes. Visit the Narus Valley water points — great for spotting buffalo herds.
Day 3 – Cultural Visit & Kidepo Valley Drive
Visit Karamojong villages for cultural experience. Drive to Kidepo Valley near South Sudan border to see ostriches and dry river beds. Optional evening bush walk with rangers.
Day 4 – Return Journey

Day 8: 🇰🇪. Maasai Mara National Reserve – Kenya (3 Days / 2 Nights)

Day 1 – Transfer to Maasai Mara Depart Nairobi for Maasai Mara (5–6 hours by road). Stopover at Great Rift Valley viewpoint for photos. Afternoon game drive en route to lodge/camp. Overnight at Mara Serena Lodge / Fig Tree Camp.

Day 2 – Full Day Game Drive
Full-day safari in the Mara plains — see the Big Five (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard). Visit the Mara River where wildebeests cross during the Great Migration (July–October). Optional evening visit to a Maasai village for cultural experience.
Day 3 – Morning Game Drive & Return to Nairobi
